What is True Success?
This writing on leadership may look crazy initially. You may feel this as one of the spiritual books. But in my 25 years of corporate experience, I have worked across (ran through) many projects and completed them successfully. In this modern world, power and success have been defined very narrowly. When we achieve a target/goal, it should bring happiness and joy along with material success not only to others but also to you. If not, then that material success is not true success.
But unfortunately, in the quest for material success, many of us started living only part of our lives. A father or Mother or Spouse or Son or Daughter or Friend and sometimes even a Human being are missing from our lives. As I have seen, many people have achieved success in one area but struggled to achieve the same in other areas of life.
Lately, we realized that true success means not just achieving material things, but along with material success, living life completely/fully and with joy and happiness in all facets or areas of our life is the true success. Many of us are running behind targets and goals throughout our lives which are not integrated fully into all areas of our lives.
Some may misunderstand me, thinking that I am advocating against working for material success. No doubt that we are living in a material world, and we need material things to enjoy life. But to what extent are we chasing material things to find joy and happiness in life? What is the point if the efforts we put into achieving these material things are robbing us of our true joy and happiness?
My view is that if material success is not bringing you joy and happiness in your life and in the lives of other fellow human beings, then why run behind it? Just think twice—what is the point of this mad rush for material success if it is not bringing in true happiness and joy and is not allowing us to live our lives fully?
So we (including myself), the so-called successful professionals of this modern world, let us wake up and find the meaning of true success.
